Benin is a French-speaking country in the West African Region. It is the birthplace of the Vodun (Voodoo) region and a home to the former Dahomey Kingdom. A small country with rich cultural heritage. It shares its border with Togo to the west, Nigeria to the east, Burkina Faso and Niger to the north. It’s official language is French, however the indigenous languages spoken are Fon and Yoruba.
It is administrative capital is Port Novo while the seat of government is in Cotonou- the country’s largest city and economic nerve center.
The historic Museum occupies two Royal palaces with bas-reliefs recounting the kingdom past and a throne mounted on human skulls. The Norther part has the Pendjari National Park, which offers safaris with elephants, hippos and Lions.
